About the Podcast
“Hope Mississippi” is a bi-monthly podcast committed to educating Mississippians about the real needs of their fellow citizens, especially the children, and inspiring collective action. Each episode highlights local challenges, uplifting stories of resilience, and encourages collaboration to change the trajectory of Mississippi families.
The Host
Dawn is a retired Mississippi Supreme Court Justice. I was impressed by her vision and drive to help others. Dawn was looking for an intro production that included a jingle, spoken word and an inspiring message to represent her podcast. She was detailed and professional in what she wanted. We worked together along with her talented producer, Hill Kane.
Dawn is co-chair of the Commission on Children’s Justice. She has spearheaded efforts to organize Rescue 100 programs to train foster parents. Along with her husband, she has participated in humanitarian missions to Honduras until they were called to focus on their home state. Dawn has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to spreading hope, raising awareness, and collaborating with others to end generational poverty in Mississippi. She is an inspiration to all.
Featured Episode: Eddie Spencer’s Redemption Story
One of the most moving episodes to date is the two-part conversation with Reverend Eddie Spencer, a reformed career criminal whose journey from generational poverty to a life of faith, service, and peace is nothing short of extraordinary.
Eddie’s story includes:
- His transformation through mentorship, ministry, and opening three restaurants in the Mississippi Delta.
- A harrowing 42-day hospitalization from sepsis and prostate cancer, where he lost 83 pounds and nearly died.
- A deep faith that sustains him through illness with total peace and certainty of salvation.
These episodes are a reminder that no life is too far gone for grace and that personal testimony can be one of the most powerful tools for hope and healing.

Podcast Milestones
Hope Mississippi has released 10 episodes as of the date of this writing so far and is steadily growing a dedicated audience across the state and beyond. Listeners have said that the podcast fills a much-needed gap in the conversation about how we care for our children, our communities and each other.
The podcast hit a major milestone when they attended the Mississippi State Bar Convention. They created the event’s first-ever working podcast booth, where they interviewed law school deans, judges, in-house counsel, and practicing attorneys. In just three days, they captured enough content to fill seven full episodes. The energy, generosity, and enthusiasm was incredible. They are planning to return the following year with an even bigger presence.
Final Remarks in “Dawn Beam’s” words
“Mark and I met at Podfest 2025, and I was instantly impressed by his warmth, professionalism, and musical talent. He captured the heart of Hope Mississippi in the very first draft of our theme music. Mark didn’t just create a jingle; he created an identity for our show. The music is hopeful, grounded and heartfelt and was exactly what we needed. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Thank you again, Mark, for being part of our story. Your music sets the tone for everything we do – and we’re so grateful to share this journey with you.
Warmly, Dawn Beam – Host of Hope Mississippi.”
